Going Vogue. Living Vogue. Being Vogue.

As a 16 year old living outside of Washington, D.C., I am eager to express myself in a world of emerging fashion and conservative style. “Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” – Yves Saint Laurent

Fashion Feud: Katie vs. Lucy-Liu

It’s time for another Fashion Feud, and I’m pretty torn about this one. Both ladies wore this stunning, lace dress by my favorite, Azzedine Alaia. Both ladies definitely rocked the enviable dress within a month of each other. I find it difficult to choose a clear winner because, while both of the overall looks looked fantastic, there are little things I would tweak about each ensemble. Katie’s glowing skin and tousled hair were the perfect accessory and complimented the dress, making the underlying color pop. Katie’s look would have been flawless if she has worn Lucy Liu’s nude pumps. The Proenza booties cut off her legs, making her legs appear shorter and they detract from the dress. Lucy Liu has the perfect accessories, but her pasty skin and dull hair fail to compliment the incredible dress. If I had to choose a winner – I think I would have to go with Katie Holmes. Despite the booties, everything else looks flawless! What are your thoughts? I am eager to hear everyone’s opinion on this Fashion Feud.

2011 VMAs: Best Dressed

On Sunday night many celebrities walked the black carpet as they arrived at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. On the far left, a pregnant, glowing Beyonce stole the show in this orange Lanvin dress. I love the contrast of her large emerald ring against her vibrant dress. Zoe Salanda rocked her black, beaded Barbara Bui mini, while Victoria Justice looked very age appropriate in silver Thayer mini dress. Katie Holmes made an unexpected appearance, looking fabulous in her eye-catching Azzedine Alaia woven dress.

Wish List

I have always wanted an Alaia dress and I am determined to own one in my lifetime. Azzedine Alaia opended his first atelier in Paris in the 1970s. He is known for his body con dresses, which involve intricate fabric weaving, and his ability to highlight women’s bodies – he has earned the title, “King of Cling” . His creations have been worn by celebrities and fashionistas such as Victoria Beckham, Mariah Carey, Michelle Obama, and Kim Kardashian.
