Going Vogue. Living Vogue. Being Vogue.

As a 16 year old living outside of Washington, D.C., I am eager to express myself in a world of emerging fashion and conservative style. “Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” – Yves Saint Laurent

Fashion Feud

In this Fashion Feud we have Leighton Meester up against the recently pregnant Beyonce. Meester was first seen in this Pre-Fall 2011 Michael Kors number at the premiere of her movie, The Roommate in January. Beyonce was just seen in this dress during Fashion Week in mid November. Both ladies absolutely rock the look and do Michael Kors some justice, which makes it hard to pick a winner. As fantastic as Beyonce looks, I think I’m going to have to give this one to Leighton Meester. The dress is so gorgeous it speaks for itself, and Beyone’s large locks and oversized earrings are just too much for this gown. Not to mention, the daring dress just isn’t as flattering on Beyonces curvy body. What are your thoughts?

New York City Fashion Week: Rodarte

Rodarte’s Summer 2012 collection is fun, flirty, and fabulous! I love the enlarged prints and rich indigo blue, bright aqua, and marigold yellow hues. The starry nights and sunflower themed creations make it evident that Rodarte drew inspiration from Vincent Van Gough this season. There is no doubt that we will be seeing these pieces on celebrities and fashionistas in the next couple of months. The show attracted a vast crowd of celebrities including, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Vogue editor, Anna Wintour.

Van Gogh’s brushstrokes infused pretty much everything we did,” Laura said after the show. “Our color palette, the embroidery, the designs. Every decision we made, we asked: Could this be part of a van Gogh painting?” – Laura Mulleavy, Co-Founder of Rodarte

Laura and her sister Kate, the founders of Rodarte, definitely succeeded in creating a cohesive collection inspired by Van Gough. I would love to hear your thoughts on their new designs – especially their take on the summer pant suit!

2011 VMAs: Best Dressed

On Sunday night many celebrities walked the black carpet as they arrived at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. On the far left, a pregnant, glowing Beyonce stole the show in this orange Lanvin dress. I love the contrast of her large emerald ring against her vibrant dress. Zoe Salanda rocked her black, beaded Barbara Bui mini, while Victoria Justice looked very age appropriate in silver Thayer mini dress. Katie Holmes made an unexpected appearance, looking fabulous in her eye-catching Azzedine Alaia woven dress.
