Going Vogue. Living Vogue. Being Vogue.

As a 16 year old living outside of Washington, D.C., I am eager to express myself in a world of emerging fashion and conservative style. “Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” – Yves Saint Laurent

Trend Report

On a recent outing to the mall, I picked up on an upcoming trend: coated denim. It is a new and interesting concept, which gives the denim a rough, leathery look and makes them feel as if they are coated in wax. The coating is done using pigment, acrylic or polyurethane coating. Pigment coating provides the denim a new look and experience after every wash. However, acrylic and polyurethane  act as a transparent coating, which protects the fading properties. It also gives the fabric a protective breathable layer with stain resistant properties. The luster and feel of the fabric are also improved.  What are your thoughts on this new trend?

Zac Posen Autumn-Winter 2012

Zac Posen in a young fashion designer known for his regal silhouettes, most notably, his stunning mermaid gowns. He is a favorite among Natalie Portman, Beyonce Knowles, and Cameron Diaz. I don’t even know how to describe how in love I am with his Autumn/Winer 2012 collection. It incorporates all of the hot fall trends we have been looking at, such as bordeaux, gold, and  old school glamour, while staying true to his recognizable trademark, the mermaid gown. Although I am drooling over the gold sequined gown, tulle bordeaux mermaid, and dark burgundy blouse, for some reason, my eye is repeatedly drawn back to the fitted mermaid suit in the bottom left – an extraordinary addition to his collection. I can not begin to describe how much I appreciate Zac Posen and this impressive collection that showcases his incredible talent.

This fall’s hand bag trend is the vintage satchel. It’s an adorable throwback that coincides with the Present Day Polished, clean lines and structured trend as well as leaving some reminiscent of the 70s!

Trend Report: The Perfect Transition

It’s always hard to dress in between seasons. Labor Day has passed, but it’s not quite time to break out the dowdy fall colors. Scarves make the perfect transition accessory. A bold scarf can liven an outfit and can be paired with shorts or long pants. Try shorts, a solid color long sleeve shirt, with the perfect light weight scarf to break things up! Scarves have been all the rage and  they can be used various ways – the most practical and versatile of all accessories!

My favorite is definitely this Tory Burch – the bright fall colors are divine and make for the perfect transition!

Fall 2011 Favorites: YSL

I am officially in love with all things YSL. I can not get over how much I love the Tribitoo Platform Pumps, especially in the copper! The fall collection is spot on, as the brand has put a seasonal spin on color. The purple clutch is to die for as are the blue suede pumps and the olive green hobo bag. Their jewlery is incredible, and their dresses – one of a kind! I die for absolutely everything YSL. Yves Saint Laurent has gotten me in the fall mood despite the woes of cold weather and long school days!

Trend Report: Fall 2011

Growing up in Virginia wine and horse country, riding boots and equestrian wear have always been a hot commodity. This fall, riding boots are going to be all the rage. They are easy to throw on and look great with anything from leggings to denim. Try them with another hot fall trend, colored denim, to make the look more subtle. I couldn’t resist to add a little Hermes, a brand known for their equestrian style. I have always admired these Kelly Riding Boots – an item that has been on my wish list for quite sometime!

Trend Report: Fall 2011

On a recent rendezvous to the mall I noticed that deep purples are going to be all the rage this fall. From burgundy to bordeaux and purple to plum, one thing is for sure – you can’t get enough of this color for the upcoming season! The biggest perk – it looks great on all skin tones and can be worn by all ages. Although it’s a splurge, I could resist to acknowledge this beautiful bordeaux scoop neck Temperley London dress. The gold beading and piping on the fitted silhouette make this gown one-of-a-kind. Their attention to detail is what makes Temperley London one of my favorite brands – everything they create is irresistibly whimsical! What are your thoughts – will you be spotted in bordeaux this fall?

Fall Fashion – Must Haves

I am so ready for it to be fall, just to change out my closet! I have put together a list of my fall must haves! I can’t wait to rock electric blue denim – it’s going to look great with a cream or gray cape or loose-fitting knit sweater, which I included as well. I am also looking forward to attempting to pull off leather (or pleather) leggings as well as black tights! A classic trench coat will be a staple this fall – it will look incredible with the blue denim, leather leggings, and black tights – while managing to look completely fresh and different with each. Another fall must have is a lace dress – it will add an edgy flare to your wardrobe! I have also noticed that nude and black patent pumps are going to be HUGE this fall. They add a feminine, polished look. I have also included a structured handbag which will add glamour and make any outfit look put-together. Last but not least, everyone’s beauty go-to this fall should be a cherry red lip, pair it with a structured handbag and those two-toned pumps to create the perfect old school Hollywood glamour look that will make you look feminine and polished.
